Almost a month after the BTC ETF launched, and we’re seeing BTC back around the $47k range.
Now that the fervor has had time to cool off, I think it’s important to emphasize that, although the ETFs have increased institutional exposure to the BTC price, those who “purchase” BTC through the ETF do not own the underlying asset.
Or…buying BTC through the ETF gives you exposure to the price action of BTC - not BTC itself.
You don’t actually own the asset - which is one of the key points of cryptocurrency.
So although it has brought more attention and legitimacy to BTC and the wider cryptocurrency space, the ETF is just one stepping stone to the real thing: self-custody.

"Regret for the things we didn't do can be more bitter than for the ones we did. Embrace each opportunity as it comes, and even if the outcome is not as expected, cherish the lessons and experiences gained along the way."
This reminds us of the importance of seizing opportunities when they arise, as the regret of not taking action can be more painful than the potential failure or disappointment that might come from trying.
Approach life with an open heart and a willingness to embrace new experiences, even if they don't always lead to the outcomes we envisioned.
Rather than dwelling on missed chances, focus on the lessons and growth that each experience offers.
The human mouth is home to more than 700 species of bacteria. While some of these bacteria are beneficial, others can be harmful and contribute to tooth decay and gum disease.
Control the bacterial population by regularly brushing and flossing - this helps to promote your overall oral health.
My Thoughts On…
Farcaster / Warpcast
I’ll keep it simple: try it out.
Been finding myself on Warpcast 10x more than Twitter/X this past week.
The use of “/” channels and token-gated chats are things that provide a more focused conversation than on X.
Really feel that it has legs going forward 💯
What I’m Reading
The end of my childhood by Vitalik Buterin
In title-sake, this latest blog by Vitalik made me reflect on the most impactful moments of my life and how they have shaped who I am today.
The more engrossed I become with my work, the more responsibilities I have.
And the more I aim to proceed in an ethical and true manner to not undermine the importance of what I do.
In essence, the “end of my childhood”.
After all, we all have to grow up at some point as our priorities shift.
Back to the article at hand, Vitalik paints a picture of his journey over the last several years and how certain experiences have caused a shift in his approach to the space.
Evocative of the great journey we all go through, his parting words truly hit home ⤵️
What I’m Watching
THE LORD OF THE RINGS | A Complete Retrospective
It’s about that time of the year that I think about Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings a lot.
As long as one of the actual films in the trilogy, this “complete retrospective” by Prime’s Theater does a fantastic job recounting the story behind the production and releases of the best trilogy ever.
If you’re a true LOTR nerd like I am, this is a fantastic watch.
And for reference, I watch all videos and listen to all podcasts on 2x speed, but out of respect for LOTR, I watched this whole video in 1x speed 😂
What I’m Listening To
The Legend of Zelda Orchestra Concert [Nintendo Live 2024 TOKYO]
Reminiscent of simpler times where I could game all day without a care.
Zelda’s Lullaby will always hold a special place in my heart and mind.
What I’m Eating
Snacks in the Hospital OR
After a long day in the OR, these snacks hit home.
*Not great for your overall diet nor your oral health.

Art of the Week
Archive of Feelings by Mika Tajima
Archive of Feelings is the first-ever solo NFT project from multidisciplinary artist Mika Tajima, produced by PROOF x Pace Verso.
The project is based on Tajima’s existing Human Synth series of large-scale installations that use a custom sentiment analysis algorithm to process text-based social media data and forecast collective emotions. With Archive of Feelings, Tajima brings Human Synth into the world of web3, using the same sentiment analysis program to visualize the averaged emotional data across 12 US regions on January 1, 2023.
Stay safe out there and be happy~
Best,
Philip
